AXIS^{^TM} Automatic X-ray Inspection System is the next logical step in the evolution of tire X-ray inspection. AXIS proprietary software is Windows NT-based for easy set up and use. Nine region tests can be preprogrammed for automatic inspection of body cord, sidewall, belt, turnup, and bead area.

Tests Performed:

Body Cord for Average Cord Spacing and Cord Diameter
Sidewall for Wide Cords (Doubled), Wide Spaces, Narrow Cords, Missing, Cords, Broken Cords, Crossed Cords, Foreign Material
Inspects Belt and Turnup for Wander, Snaking, Scalloping, Necking, Flare
Inspects Bead Area for Loose Wires (Seat Side), Gross Weld Faults

Type of test, test specifications, regions of interest, and relational measurement references are established during a setup or teaching phase. Parameters are saved to a reference recipe database. Tests can then be run automatically and anomalies identified without operator intervention. Image analysis is completed as the next tire is being loaded for inspection.

Suspect tires can be marked or diverted to a special storage rack. Tire images and the corresponding test results are stored in a database which can be accessed for post inspection review.
