PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Introducing the SFB-100 Series
The SFB-100 is a modular, PC-based ultrasonic data acquisition and evaluation system, developed for high-volume digital data acquisition, imaging, and evaluation of flaws for in-service train rail.

Ultrasonic Instrumentation and software
SFB-100 combines the high-speed, multi-gate hardware capability of the upi-50 ultrasonic instrument with application-specific ScanMaster software for data acquisition, imaging and evaluation.

SFB-100 architecture
ScanMaster client-server network with one to 16 client upi-50 ultrasonic instruments and ScanMaster server with integrated display, data storage and data evaluation tools.

Data acquisition technique
16 contiguous hardware gates per upi-50 channel provide high-speed acquisition of peak amplitude and depth data over the volume of the inspected rail.

On-line B-scan imaging
ScanMaster software-generated longitudinal B-scan of rail provides a real-time image of indications for each ultrasonic channel.

Operator control console
Includes 17" control and ultrasonic signal monitors, keyboard and control mouse.

Data acquisition interface
ScanMaster B and C-scan Imaging Software, with up to 132K peak amplitude and TOF measurements/sec.

Storage of images and evaluation of indications
On-line archiving of B-scan data for each active channel. Data evaluation can be on or off-line, based on pattern recognition of single or composite longitudinal B-scan images of indications. Fully documented inspection results with the capability for advanced flaw evaluation based on digital pattern recognition of longitudinal B-scan cross-sections.

Number of inspection channels
One to eight ultrasonic channels per rail. Simultaneous firing of all channels.

Maximum inspection speed
To 100km/hr (60miles/hr), dependent on longitudinal resolution requirement and performance of ultrasonic coupling device.

Inspection resolution along the track
4mm per channel at 60km/hr (36miles/hr). Tighter resolution with decreasing inspection speed.

Changes in rail height
Automatic compensation for changes in rail height.

Position tracker
Encoder-based measurement along the track. Automatic or manual reset of position at periodically placed position markers. Tracking accurate to 200mm.

Remote data processing
Optional remote data processing and analysis station connected by LAN to the control console.

Inspection documentation
Standard documentation tools include: • Color ink jet printer • Operator annotations on screen • Storage and screen dump of any A-scan display in Set-up mode • Generation, storage and printout of .pcx image file of any screen display.

System access control
Five levels of programmable authorized access.

Safety Standards and Approvals
The SFB-100 systems are fully compliant with the most stringent safety standards. The SFB-100 systems are CE certified for safety and electro-magnetic compliance.
