Tube Selector
The equipment is used for the selection of tubes and rods at the tubing line.

Principle

The equipment evaluates the measured values of the outside diameter measuring device ODM 20 - 130 or the values of the thickness measuring device TM (T). 
It is linked with them via serial interface RS 232.

The measured values are compared with the tolerances. A signal passed/not passed is determined.

Furthermore, the device is linked together with sensors for the drawing speed as well as the pulse of the preliminary cutting device. That way a precise allocation of the measured values to the tube length and an exact timing of the selector is provided.

Structure

The device comprises the following components:

  • selecting computer with potential free output,
  • LCD touch - screen display,
  • sensors for drawing speed and pulse of the preliminary cutting device.
It is installed in a rugged enclosure, which will be placed beside of the drawing machine.

Operation

Set values and tolerances are fed in via LCD display. The trend of diameter or wall thickness is displayed graphically together with the tolerances and the warning limits. The tube length and the point of preliminary cutting is shown graphically. Alerts are indicated if the measured value exceeds the warning limits. The degree of selection can be changed: The number of measured values, which are allowed to exceed the limits, can be set. A number of service functions will support installation and commissioning.

The selecting computer assigns the measuring values to
the tube lengths to be cut. The number of adjustable
tolerance exceeds is the basis for the selecting decision.
 


The LCD display of the selecting computer shows the the 
trend of the measuring values over the tube length together 
with the tolerance limits. The long vertical line marks the 
cutter, the two short lines show the tube length.
