Thickness Measurement of Hollow Glass
The device has been designed for the non-contact wall thickness measurement of blown hollow glass.
It can be used for on-line as well as off-line measurement.

Measuring Principle

A laser light line is sent out onto the surface of the article to be measured. The reflexes of the laser light, which are generated at the front side and the rear side of the surface are projected onto a CCD-line sensor. The distance between these two reflexes is evaluated.

Structure and Installation

The device comprises the gauge head and the electronic unit as well as the equipment for the positioning of the gauge head.
The on-line installation can be done immediately at the blowing machine or at the conveyor belt.
A special handling device and cooling equipment is provided. The off-line measurement is based on a special handling, comprising a chuck, which is motor driven rotated.

Evaluation of the Measured Values

The measured values can be evaluated statistically and will be displayed graphically using an LCD-display and a main PC optionally:

  • graphic display of the wall thickness profile
  • graphic display of the wall thickness range of each article
  • numerical display of average, maximum and minimum
  • issuing the manufacturing certificate

Specifications

  • measuring range: 0.5 ... 5 mm
  • accuracy: approx. 0.1 mm
  • frequency: 2,000 measured values/second
  • output: digital and LCD-display, serial interface
  • handling equipment: in accordance with the customers needs

Advantages

  • The wall thickness will be measured continuously and can be kept within small tolerances.
  • The quality of the articles will be shown to the customer in a convincing way.
