TM(F)

Thickness Measurement of Flat Glass

The device TM(F) can be used for the thickness measurement of flat glass.
It is suitable for thickness measurement at float glass lines particularly.
The equipment will be delivered in two types:
  1. measurement at the cold end
  2. measurement at the hot exit

Tasks

  • Thickness profile measurement, parallel and rectangular to the ribbon
  • Width measurement
  • Calculation of total throughput
  • Determination of top rollers
  • Graphic display of the trends and the profiles
  • Statistics
  • Issue of the manufacturing certificate

Structure and Measuring Principle

The device comprises the following components:

  • movable frame incl. cullet protection and glass fracture sensors
  • thickness measuring gauge head
  • cooling equipment
  • electronic unit, placed beside the movable frame
  • measuring computer, positioning controller and motor drive
  • main computer, placed in the control room
The thickness is measured by evaluation of the distance of reflexes from solid state
lasers, which are generated at the lower and upper side of the float glass ribbon.

Specification

  • Measuring range: 1 ... 20 mm (standard)
  • Accuracy: 0.01 mm (standard deviation according to DIN 1319)

Advantages

  • no radioactivity
  • no drift
  • measurement at a point
  • any adjustment is not necessary
  • measurement can be done at the hot exit
  • further information besides the thickness are provided

Thickness measuring device at the Cold End. It is placed in an interruption
of the roller course. The sensor is below the ribbon.
