The device has been designed
to measure the outside diameter of tubes or similar articles, such as
technical glass, domestic glass, laboratory glass.
Principle of
Measurement
The device is based on two CCD-row
cameras. Each of them takes an image of an outside edge of the tube. The
cameras are installed on a transfer unit. Its position is adapted in
accordance with the diameter to be measured. The positions of the
cameras as well as the position of the tubes edges on the cameras are
evaluated in a micro controller. T his way the diameter of the tube is
determined in a precise and reliable way.
Structure
The system comprises the following
components:
- camera unit
- illumination unit
- electronic unit.
The device is part of a series. It will be
adapted to the different tasks. Camera unit as well as illumination unit
can be protected by means of water cooling, air cooling and radiation
protection optionally. This way the measuring device can be installed in
hot places immediately at the draw.
Operation
Special emphasis has been placed on the
operator convenience of the apparatus:
Any operation of the device is not
required. The measuring process works automatically without operation.
The camera unit changes the positions of the cameras by means of the
motor driven transfer
unit automatically in accordance with the
diameter to be measured. Any adjustment is not necessary.
